AP govt’s emphasis on skilling for poor to open overseas job opportunities
APSSDC, the nodal agency for initiatives under Cascade Skilling System, is reaching out to industry partners and international institutes to support the overall framework

As part of its commitment to identify skill gaps and offer training for value addition, Andhra Pradesh Government has taken up several skill development initiatives to facilitate overseas employment of job-seekers from the State mostly from poor socio-economic backgrounds.
After seeking applications through AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) for availing job opportunities in the Gulf for caregivers, domestic workers and cooks, the Department of Skills Development has also sought response from BSc (Nursing) qualified candidates for training in German language from next month for placement in Germany. They will be offered Rs 89,000 per month for six months and on successfully completing B2 certification course they will get Euros 2,500 per month after six months.
A senior government official told Bizz Buzz that they are taking several initiatives for skill development to improve employment quotient as part of Skill Cascade System as per directives given by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The APSSDC is the nodal agency for all the initiatives planned under Cascade Skilling System. It has so far set up 200 Skill Hubs, 26 Skill Colleges across Andhra Pradesh. There is a proposal to set up a skill university in Visakhapatnam to meet requirements for high-end jobs.
APSSDC has also been designated as the nodal agency for the Skill India International Programme. The specific focus has been on regions like the Middle East, the European Union, Australia, Canada, Japan and the USA.
In order to create an internationally-benchmarked quality skills ecosystem and provide global career mobility opportunities for overseas candidates, APSSDC is reaching out to major industry partners and international institutes who can partner with AP Government and support the overall framework.
At present APSSDC is working with stakeholders like Overseas Manpower Company of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (OMCAP), AP Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRT), TAKT International in collaboration for exploring international placements.
In a significant development, the corporation signed a MoU with International
Aggregation Platform for Mobility (INLAMOBI) on Wednesday. INLAMOBI will assist APSSDC to be a one-stop shop for all needs related to International Mobility including permanent migration, short-term migration and educational migration. It will help a job-seeker throughout the migration journey starting from demand identification to integrating in the migrant country and the larger Indian diaspora.
“We in INLAMOBI feel privileged and excited to be able to play a positive role in the national cause and in fulfilling the core aspirations to secure the welfare and well-being of our migrant workers seeking employment abroad,” said Srikumar Menon, president-Operations, INLAMOBI.
The MoU envisages offering assistance to establish a Center of Excellence for delivering language and future skill training in a structured manner using both digital platforms and physical classrooms (phygital), enabling learning at its own pace and running a pilot programme with focus on the health and hospitality sector.
The MoU was signed in the presence of APSSDC’s Vinod Kumar V, MD and CEO, B R Kranthi Kumari, Executive Director and OMCAP General Manager, Karthikeya, OSD to Minister for Skill Development and representatives from KPMG and Skill International Team. INLAMOBI team was represented by Kumar Menon, president-Operations and Soumya Acharya, Chief Digital Officer, INLAMOBI.
